How does self-tan work?Updated 2 months ago

At the heart of every self-tanner is one powerhouse active ingredient called DHA.

Dihydroxyacetone (aka DHA) is a colourless, non-toxic active that is naturally derived from sugar. It is the key active ingredient behind self-tan and mimics the effects of the sun by reacting with amino acids in skin cells to create a natural-looking tan.

After wearing the self-tan for the allocated amount of time and the tinted colour guide is rinsed off in the shower, the clear, active ingredients continue to develop for up to 24 hours into your final dark, natural-looking tan.
